Ron Cantrell, PADI Course Director

Ron began his scuba diving career in 2006 after being introduced to the underwater world by a friend. After gaining experience and adding classes to his resume, Ron decided to advance his skills by becoming a Divemaster. Shortly after that, he became an instructor. In 2016, Shane Norwood, owner of Sharky’s Scuba, convinced Ron to become a PADI Course Director. The training took two years and involved learning instruction techniques in both the classroom and in the water, training in proper safety procedures, and spending many hours in the water. Ron’s Course Director Training was conducted in the Dominican Republic in July of 2018. He is one of only three active PADI Course Directors in the state of Oklahoma, and he has 53 scuba certifications.

Ron’s favorite part of diving is seeing and interacting with sea life. One of his most memorable interactions occurred on a dive in the Cayman Islands when he was snuggled by a nurse shark.

Teaching scuba diving is Ron’s passion, and he enjoys sharing his love of the underwater world with all levels of divers. Ron and his wife Sara, also a dive instructor, enjoy diving in the Philippines and the Cayman Islands.
